Five Incredible Seychelles Beaches You Can't Miss
A picturesque location where we enjoyed a gorgeous day at Anse Patates beach on La Digue island with family & friends.
If someone offered me a round-trip ticket to anywhere in the world right now, I would choose to go to Seychelles. An island of untouched nature and paradise beaches, scenic views and pleasant weather, picture-perfect and peaceful, and friendly and helpful people.
Seychelles is a gorgeous travel destination with lots of sunshine and clear azure waters throughout the year, so the right time to visit depends on your preference. You can book your stay from January to April to avoid the high season of the summer months from May to August.
I found it incredibly challenging to rank the beaches of Seychelles since not a single beach I visited disappointed me. Still, because there are so many on its 115 islands, I decided to list my top 5 favorite beaches on the three main islands - Mahe, Praslin, and La Digue.
1. Anse Lazio - Praslin
Located on the second largest island in Seychelles, Anse Lazio is undoubtedly the most picturesque beach on Praslin. Soft white sand beaches, granite boulders, and clear turquoise water create a spectacular setting for everyone. It’s a terrific place for snorkeling or just lying down in the sun letting all your cares fade away. Since it's one of the most visited places on the island, you'd better get there early to avoid the crowds.
2. Anse Source d’Argent - La Digue
Multiple commercials and movies have been filmed on this beach! Located on La Digue island, Anse Source d’Argent is one of Seychelles' famous attractions. An initial entrance fee is needed to access this beach; however, the experience is well worth the cost. Extremely crowded, so it's more convenient to visit early in the morning before 10 am when fewer people arrive. The protection provided to the beach by the coral reefs ensures that the open ocean feels far away. The unique mixture of shallow water, pristine white sand, and impressive granite rocks make it a real treat that visitors will remember for a long time.
3. Anse Patates - La Digue
I fell in love with this secluded beach north of La Digue. I had the most memorable bike ride of my life to reach Anse Patates beach. This place is rarely visited, making it a peaceful and relaxing option. No coral reefs protect the bay, so anyone swimming there must be close to shore as currents are powerful in deeper water. The trees along the coastline and rock formations make it look like something out of this world. They say dolphins can sometimes be spotted swimming off this beach. I never had the chance to see one, but maybe on my next visit.
4. Anse Saint Jose - Curieuse
There was something surreal about this beach. I felt like I was in heaven! A private boat trip is the only way to access Anse Saint Jose, located on the small island of Curieuse. This island is well-known for its unique Coco de Mer palms, a cultural icon of Seychelles, and its giant tortoises. It is an experience you won't forget at the beach; you'll feel soulful and rejuvenated.
5. Anse Intendance - Mahe
It's a spacious beach stretching half a mile south of Mahe island. It attracts waves, and they are intense on Anse Intendance, meaning swimming can’t be easy, but it’s a pleasant spot for walking and sunbathing. The coastline and the thickly-vegetated mountain backdrop are beautiful. You can find your place to enjoy some peace. You can enjoy the sound of the wind and waves too.
All these beaches are different, and each is worth visiting for its reasons. I enjoyed these beaches the best, but there are numerous others that should be explored around Seychelles.
